0850 - Good morning. Very tired. I was wavering between half-asleep and awake all night, keeping an ear out for Molly in case she needed to make a quick run outside. With some Imodium in her system, she did fine. But I'm tired as all get out. So you'll excuse me if I just continue to struggle through my day. Later.

1134 - Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving. Sigh. For our Thanksgiving morning walk, Molly slipped out of her harness and took me on a one-mile run. Does anyone know a good taxidermist? And I'm collecting opinions on plaque vs. hood mount. Sorry about the lack of postisms the last couple of days - not many people left at work, and I had to get a couple of boxes assembled and OS loaded. That and keeping on top of Jerry's latest antics pretty much ate the spare time.
The bird is in the oven (no pardons here), and we've got an episode of Buffy cued up. So I'll bid you farewell for the moment.

2207 - Good evening. Another nice visit with the Thompsons for Thanksgiving is past. We had a long drive up today, accompanied by several thousand Wake Forest fans who were making the trip up to see their team play the Maryland Terps. And we all got to file slowly by the accident site that closed southbound I-95 in Virginia for over an hour. Those together added nearly an hour to our drive home. We had a real good time, though - Shooting clays on Sunday when we arrived, lots of mucking about with computers, watching Buffy, Thanksgiving supper with Barbara's family, and out to the pistol range on Friday. Both Marcia and I got to put some rounds through the .22, the .357 revolver, and the .45 ... They're great hosts, and great friends. THANKS!!!!!!!
Connectivity issues tromped all over my usual subterfuge of vague postings during our travels. Sorry if you came through expecting at least that much from me. Tomorrow there's laundry, shopping, cleaning, etc. It's a great life ...

1117 - Good morning. I had an email in from Mat Lemmings this morning. He's apparently convinced himself that he isn't someone named Ian Chandler, which explains the name of his new blog, NOT Ian Chandler. I wrote to the Gang that "One presumes that he has always not been Ian Chandler, but decided to draw attention to this fact in this manner. At some point in time, Mat is likely to realize that he is also NOT a whole slew of other people, but ... baby steps." So his name is back on the active side of the lists at the Daynotes.com and Daynotes.net sites, along with Greg, since he's been busy again recently on his Greg's Adventures blog, and I'd like to encourage that.
Meantime, our young men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan are continuing to do their best to maintain order and help rebuild the countries that the Islamics and terrorists would keep in chaos, fear, and pain. And we have losses...
The sacrifices and bravery of our troops were much on my mind during the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm very proud of their effort, and their execution of their responsibility in difficult circumstances. My condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
