1421 - Happy New Year. We were out until three this morning. I was designated, which fits my non-consumption pattern. After we dropped Linda Rose off at her place, then dropped ourselves into bed, I got a good nearly four hours of sleep before Molly decided to throw up next to the bed. What sort of seasoning does one use for Canine Carnitas?
And the New Year starts with chores, of course. This morning I finished re-finishing the family room wall. Smells a bit like paint, but that smell is losing out to the bean soup that Marcia's making. With an onion, garlic, and ham base, there's plenty of yummy smells in the house right now.
Linda Rose is joining us for the day. She and Marcia are working on a 1500 piece teddy bear puzzle. After I format the column and mailbag for Jerry, we'll probably watch a couple of Buffy episodes, too. So I guess I'll get to that next.
Say, what's your Resolution, if any? I'll reserve mine for now.

0833 - Good morning. And good bye to Gerald Ford. As his final good deed, he gave me a stellar commute into the office this morning, since all Federal offices are closed for the National Day of Mourning. The funeral is today, so I'm glad I don't have to go down into the District, though.
Watched three more Buffy episodes last night, finishing out Season 4. Marcia made a spectacular bean soup which we all enjoyed. And I got lots of my tasks done, including formatting the new stuff up on Chaos Manor Reviews. Now to get into another busy week of work. Remember, less than 360 shopping days until Christmas!

0743 - Good morning. No, not really. I'm angrier than I've been in literally years about how someone here at the office handles, or rather doesn't handle, their job. I'm calmer now than an hour ago, but have no more time nor attention to give to fools. Especially fools who can't prioritize removal of their head from their ass, much less actual work-related tasks ... probably because they're too busy conducting their own business (as in side jobs) on the side. Gah! I don't find that being this angry is good for me. So I'm going to strive for a bit of serenity. Wish me luck.

1057 - Yaaar! Okay, it's still several months away from International Talk Like A Pirate Day, but still ... every once in a while. This last week was insane with work, and with potential work that never came to pass, but for which I did significant prep work. That's perhaps most annoying of all. But what the hell, it pays the mortgage.
So far I've slept in, and given myself a haircut. I should finish the little backup project that I've got running, and take down the Christmas goo. The woodshop needs cleaning and I need to install an electrical outlet and a UPS for the FIOS install. Right now, there's an extension cord leading to the mount points. Of course, there's plenty more to do than that, but those are near the top of the list. And I have a hope of accomplishing them in the allotted time. So there I go. Happy Saturday.

1318 - Good afternoon. Just another manic Sunday. Oh, wait, that's Mondays. Sorry. Slow is more the pace here today. Got some chores done yesterday. The shopping is done and there's more on my plate for today. But nothing exciting or special. However. our troops and their continued efforts to bring the Administration's version of stability to the Middle East are special. They all rock! And sometimes the bad guys get through, and we take losses. I'll spend a quiet while considering the lives given on our behalf...

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
