Bounty from the garden |
2153 - Good evening. Busy evening as usual. Just before the light went, I made it out back to see what I could pull from the garden. We'll use all the beans - they freeze well in casseroles. Half the zucchini will go to work the rest I'll have for supper in the next day or two, before the whole thing starts over again. G'night.
Gah! Link to a new choice for President!

Traveling dog |
2154 - Good evening. I've got Meddle playing at about 11 on the shout-o-meter — yum. Once, they were all Pink... While that tuneage caresses my ears, I've been looking through the image stores to see if I can find a combo dog picture for Marcia to have at her next office, whenever that happens. Tricky, that, because the mutts seem to exist at different focal lengths, or at least alternate moving when the image is snapped. I did find this fun picture from 2006, when Lucy decided she knew how not to be left behind when Marcia was packing for business travel, back in 2006.
Marcia got home just before nine this evening. A full day of legal meetings, and another tomorrow, rounding out her seminars. They'll be instructive for her in gig++. It's not ill-timed to point out that I'm still enjoying my job, and all the people I'm frightening with my sense of humor, immensely as well. Even when there were 15 preventable pages last night. Such is the life of Reilly. Errrr, IT. Anyway, time to prep for rest, and the next day, and the next... Ciao!

1840 - Good evening. Not much to report. Marcia's job hunt continues; though we were holding out hope for one in particular, it apparently wasn't to be. So if you're in the DC Metro area and looking for a top-flight software contracts person, get in touch with Marcia. Me? I'm staying busy. I may have a column segment to format for Jerry before the night's out. That and schoolwork will eat the balance of the day. Ciao!

1442 - Good afternoon. Yesterday, Russ and I picked up iPhones as the thin wedge of a corporate test of the shiny things for use in integrating with our networks for email and such. To be iFair, I probably would have gotten one anyway, due to a variety of circumstances combined with naked, shiny greed, but there's no harm in a legitimate business need, is there? I did have nearly the same problem that Jerry did in connecting with WiFi networks. I found something useful in the Apple KB that got me past it: Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. Once that was done, it power cycled, and I was able to connect to the home network. [This section was intended to be written on Saturday, but I finished my sentence on Sunday, for some weird reason]
Best entitling of the day: Profit of Doom Al Gore ... Awesome! Now, check this out... Global Warming Out, Global Cooling In. Okay. Meantime NASA tries to allay fears that the continuing lack of sunspots might herald another mini ice age, noted at this link on Russ Steele's Dalton Minimum Returns site.

2118 - Good evening. Shopping, yard work, some furniture building, and working on the group project paper for my summer-session class. Whoops, there goes the day. And now there's a light show outside. I wish I could be sure that the power would hold...
Seven more American lives spent on behalf of our country. Take a moment to honor our fallen warriors. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.
2125 - I fixed up some missing stuff from Saturday's post.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
