2241 - And not much of a post. I'm just not doing anything very interesting at the moment. Sorry about that. I mean, it's important stuff, earning a living, schoolwork, and the like, but for all that it keeps me bloody busy, it's not riveting material at the best of times. I'm gonna play with the iPhone App dev tools one of these days, but not tonight. I did just pull down a bunch of Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars books for reading with Stanza on the iPhone, now that I've plowed through all the Project Gutenberg E. E. 'Doc' Smith selections. I also read a hunk of Oscar Wilde. That bloke sure knew how to tool a phrase. I tried Leonardo's Notebooks, but without the accompanying illustrations, they're just frustrating. Anyway, ciao!

2138 - I just received an offer to cleanse the toxic sludge from my colon. Hell of a sales pitch, eh? You'd almost suspect the 1980's version of AT&T's marketing department behind that one. The grass in the yards is coming up like crazy right now ... I was hopeful of being able to mow this afternoon. However, it rained off and on all day, it's just too damp. Oh, hey ... what happened to the evening. I finished reading Witches Abroad, that's what. G'night.

XYZZY - Catchup post only - I'm back, details Monday.

And the beat goes on in the cradle of civilization ... five more lives fed to our policy goals in that region of the world. There may indeed be tangible good that results from the sacrifices made by our armed forces, aside from the putting down of terrorists and maroons. But we should wind up our business there, and depart. We're apparently on that path in Iraq. But what's up with Afghanistan? I guess I need to read some more... Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

• Lance Cpl. Ray A. Spencer II, 20, of Ridgecrest, Calif., died April 16 as a result of a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq.
• Cpl. William C. Comstock, 21, of Van Buren, Ark., died April 22 as a result of a non-hostile incident in Anbar province, Iraq.
• Cpl. Brad A. Davis, 21, of Garfield Heights, Ohio, died April 22 near Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle.
• CSM Benjamin Moore, Jr., 43, of Waycross, Ga., died Apr 24 at Contingency Operating Base Speicher, Iraq, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident.
• Sgt. Leroy O. Webster, 28, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died April 25 near Kirkuk, Iraq, after being shot while on a dismounted patrol.
