2132 - No rain. Going to have to start watering soon, at least out front. Today, document editing at work. Final for my short-course: LIBS 150. 40 questions, 18 minutes, 92.5 percent. Another 'A' in the bag. Wrote up my backup routine(s) for Jerry. If he doesn't use it in the column or mailbag, I'll post here, with appropriate annoations. Tired now. Oh, yeah. I've got a firewall ruleset push tonight, followed by post-mod testing. Go, me! Ciao!

1431 - It's a day... wait, it's a convenience store. Hell, who knows? I did quite a bit of reading last night about the unusually early and strong east coast incidence of late blight on tomato crops across seven eastern states. Today, I went to Home Depot and bought some Ortho Max Disease Control, primary ingredient: chlorothalonil. Generally I try to withstand the temptation to spray stuff, and hold myself to light, organic-ish oil/soap based treatments to discourage bugs/disease. But I could lose the whole crop (and I bought half my plants from Home Depot, one of the places known to distribute plants from the grower with the problem, this year). So I'll treat.
After that, I spent the next several hours cleaning up crap that accumulated on the concrete pad outside the side shed. Six trash bags worth, mostly stuff that had to be cut up or sawn small enough to be bagged. Tired now, but I have some more stuff to get done. Ciao!

1620 - Good day today, for everyone except Molly. She was our 0700 alarm call, throwing up on the bed. Um, not so yay, and for about the third time in three weeks. She's got an appointment on next Saturday, so I'll ask about it then. V.weird, since it's not food, just water and stomach acid. No observed problems with appetite or elimination. That cleaned up, I went shopping while Marcia went to church. Then I did a few light chores around here. I have a bit more schoolwork to get to, in a moment. But first...
Aaargh! A very bad week to have been in Afghanistan, for 18 US service members. It's mostly an unfortunate cost of Operation Dagger, which seeks to push the Taliban out of the Helmand Province. It disconcerts me to see such a long list, after months of progress combined with lowering casualty rates. Our condolences to the families and unit mates of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
