2220 - And precious little tonight, too. Tonight, I finished sanding everything (then spackled another patch, last one, I swear!) in the remodel rooms. Next, I caulked all of both rooms. Tomorrow or Thursday, I'll sand that one little patch, and give everything a quick wipe down, then apply primer. Maybe color coats by weekend, huzzah! Tired now, g'night.

1815 - Schoolwork tonight for me, no painting. I did get in my 35 minutes on the elliptical: 634 calories, 4040 strides. Oh, and since we finally got Marcia's picture uploading working again, you can see her new sewing and fabric rooms here. Yikes, look! An ampersand in the filename. Argh! Anyway, on to the schoolwork now. Ciao!

0912 - Thursday, I primed until there was no steam left in me. Last night, I started with no steam at all and utterly took the night off ... except for looking into a system problem at work and sounding the alarm to involve others. Seems to be okay now. Next, this morning, I'm off to pick up a couple of long nap roller covers. Then it's back to priming. No color this weekend - I'll be lucky to finish priming. Ciao!

Meet Lexi! |
1132 - When I said I'd be lucky to finish priming, that was before we met Lexi (Alexis Kay). Marcia started hunting for a new dog online a few days ago. She'd put in applications on a couple of cute, lapdog-sized rescues. Yesterday, we found that a local rescue (one that gets dogs from states without humane euthanasia laws) was having an adoption event. I warned Marcia - if she goes to see dogs that want to come home with her, one or more will. Marcia said, "No." As you can see, I got to say I told you so. We think that Lexi is a chihuahua-pug mix of some kind. Marcia's saying "Chipuggle." I say, "High energy." Of course, right now she's resting on the Ottoman I built for Lucy.
She knows how to play, and she's got a Jordan-esque leaping ability. She is also already partially trained. We have a bit of housebreaking still to do - we need to get her number two action lined up with when we put her out. I got back from shopping this morning to find a present. But she understands "No" most of the time, and managed to sit quietly while we ate pizza last night. Sleeping, she goes under the covers, curls up, and goes right to sleep. More (and more pictures) as her personality emerges.
More Lexi! |
I'll be back later for the balance of my Sunday post, but I have stuff that needs doing.
2133 - Back, and there's another picture of Lexi, at left. The ottoman I made for Lucy works better for Lexi, since she's quite a bit smaller than Lucy. Tip to tail, perhaps nearly the same, but not nearly as broad in the beam. She curls up into a much smaller ball. Interestingly (and I use that term under advisement), she is running about 50% on solids dropped in the house vs. outside. But she knows to pee outside. The folks suggested that she might have residual shelter issues. We'll get her trained out of that.
Meantime, it's pouring down buckets of rain, and the chain of storms makes it look as though that might continue all night.
It's nice to see a bit of good news. A DoD/Army civilian, Issa Salomi, was kidnapped by some Iraqi sect a couple of months ago, and was just released to US forces. He'll be coming home in the next week. Still, I'm sorry to see that seven more warriors are lost to us doing their duty, a much sadder final reunion with their families. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
