2117 - Yep. It's been an exciting week and it's only Tuesday evening. A lot of Montgomery County (where I work) is still without power. Trees down, chimneys down, powerlines and substations down, that was a hell of a 30 minute storm Sunday afternoon. Here's a link to one sad house with a tree intruding, courtesy of the WTOP site. I worked from home all day yesterday, and at the office most of the day today. Lots of dog walking tonight, since Marcia's out to supper with one of her church people. And time is flying. Ciao!

2202 - Busy fettling a new little Windows 7 laptop for work use. Little? I mean the Dell Inspiron 11z. Cute, with keyboard of a scale sufficient for my ogre hands. It'll do what I need, which is sometimes more for my work-related purposes than Harmony the MacBook Pro will do. Along with that, I've been roasting about 10 ounces of Sumatran coffee, walking the dogs, and watching a bit of DVR'd White Collar with Marcia. All good things to do. Now this, and listening to The Pretenders track Goodbye, from G.I. Jane. Ciao!

2151 - And still busy. Touring around with guests from out of town. Among other things, we went to the Visitor Center at Goddard, right around the corner from home (figuratively speaking). Nice presentations on the space science work done at Goddard (but little about the man himself), and a rocket garden out back, including a Delta lifter. Fun. Ciao!

2144 - Today, shopping. Then I made it up onto the roof to get the rake trim reinstalled on the house, that which blew off in the wind last Sunday. Dinner out at East Moon Asian Bistro. So far, three for three there - been happy with the food each time. The service is a little dicey, since they have very little English, and none of that idiomatic. But there you go. Overall, a nice day.
Another week, another group of fine folks who won't be watching their kids and grandkids grow up. Sigh. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
