1750 - Well. Did I mention that I got signed up for my CMIT final? It's computer-based, yay! Yay because my handwriting sucks, and frankly, I'm a lot faster typist than handwriter. I was on the horn with one of the Testing Service people the other day, and learned that by Spring 2011, they plan on being up to about 95% computer-based proctored tests (from about 60% this semester). That's a lot of work... I certainly appreciate it, though.
Next step: Smithsonian Resident Associates renewal: done. Security #FAIL - the Smithsonian Associates "catalog" puts a temporary password and userid printed on the back of the magazine. It lets one (anyone) login and take ownership of your online Smithsonian account, change the mailing address, whatever. Terrible, terrible. I plan on calling them about it tomorrow.
Now, feed the dogs, then walk the dogs, then schoolwork. Ciao!

2118 - Read another hundred pages in the CISSP book, and did half of the online assignments. The last half yet to go tonight, and a quiz and some lab work still before the week's out. I'll just keep dancing, shall I? I did manage to roast a pound of Guatemala Bourbon - Finca San Diego Buena Vista this evening. Also fortunately for us right here, our rainfall is less than half that just a few miles away. While this rain gauge is creeping up on 3" fall since last night, they're probably well past 7" and climbing, out Annapolis way. There's several more hours of wet headed our way, according to the radar. At least the tornado watches are all expired now. Now, school. Ciao!

2230 - It's a matter of time, y'see. Friday evening: dogs and schoolwork. Yesterday: woodshop work on the coffee table. Reading. Today, shopping, woodworking, and schoolwork. The coffee table is completely assembled and just needs finishing. I'm going to start with one more coat of Danish Oil, since I sanded everything down to 220 grit before assembly. Then I'll decide whether to keep coating with oil, or let that cure for a few days, then go with a couple of coats of polyurethane. I also think that, given the glass surface, that a low-gloss finish is more appropriate. The whole bloody thing doesn't need to be shiny!
Regarding schoolwork, I checked on last week's quiz, and found a score of 84%. Hmmm, that's unlike me. Fortunately, the instructor put up his answer sheet. Two of the ones he marked as wrong for me were not actually wrong - he just marked them wrong because an upper case 'A' doesn't match a lower case 'a'. Heh. I sent the email, the corrected score is now up and online. Yay? The two legit misses were both on me. I didn't understand one question well, I think, and the other ... well, I rushed and should have gotten the right answer there.
Oh, yeah, and dinner: Linda was over, so I made a chicken stir fry - it's been a couple/few months since I've done that. Now, before I go ...
Our condolences to all of the familes and units of our fallen warriors:

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
