1801 - Thanks for waiting. Once again, I drove past my old polling place, still open, to get to the new polling place at Bowie State that they opened to cut down on the crowding at the original site. Yah, that's fine, makes sense. But why not pull people from the other side, instead of selecting from this side of the precinct, and forcing me to drive several extra miles to vote. I do it, but it seems like purposeful discouragement if you ask me.

Still, get out and vote, dudes and dudettes. If you don't vote for a lizard, the wrong lizard might win!

Once upon a time, Molly would have the occasional accident inside the house, and be mortified as a result. She'd clamor to get out the back door, and run about the back yard, loath to return to the house since she'd done such a bad thing. Now, of course, the convenience of dogheimers takes precedence. That is, I wake up to heard Molly trundling down the stairs at 0500 this morning. My first thought is that I'd better head down after her, and let her out. My second thought is this: "Turn on the light." Much better idea, really, because it kept me from stepping in all kinds of stuff. Not a terrible cleanup, because she'd managed to get about 50% onto a towel still on the floor from a prior incident. So the cleanup was relatively trivial, if stinky.

But then I put her outside. She ran out to pee, ran back onto the deck, and into the house. Shame is gone, done with. So is, apparently, any memory of poo flying out of her bottom unexpectedly. She looked pointedly at me, then at the bin that holds the dog food. No, @^#%@ animal, it's not freaking breakfast time yet. Grrrr.

Even though I managed to cajole her back upstairs, I was not able to get back to sleep. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. It didn't, thankfully, so there was no vomit to clean up. And on that cheery note, I'll return to my schoolwork. Ciao!

2203 - Half a night's sleep, with the other half given over to listening for Molly to start roaming and pooping in the night. I'll get past it, maybe tonight ... if only I knew that she'd eliminated anything at all after supper tonight. But I don't. Sigh.

I spent the day today in Baltimore, attending an event called Splunk Live! It's a customer-oriented event (as opposed to a sales-oriented pre-customer event), and it rocked. Learned cool new stuff about log management and the ways that Splunk manages to do such things. Whatever else I may do with it, I probably ought to implement it at home, just to gain more experience with the tool. Hmmm. Anyway, the evening's been given over to schoolwork, specifically LabSim stuff where the world's most boring reader says stuff wrong. A lot. Lucky me. So, tired now, g'night.

1636 - Howdy. We had a little vacation, spending a couple of days up in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. While it's only just over a couple of hours driving time, we went up and stayed in Lancaster, and daytripped from there. Fun stuff for both of us, you can probably guess which was which. There was a quilting museum, a lot of little gift shops, and two train museums. Um, yeah. And the assorted markets and food was good for both of us.

Linda stayed over and watched Lexi, but we boarded Molly again, because she's got so many emissive issues between poo and vomit. However, we got home early enough today to pick up Molly, instead of having to wait until tomorrow. So we're happy to be home, and both dogs are happy for us to be home.

I've also, just now, finished my third writing assignment for WRTG394, and it's submitted. The second writing assignment grade is in: I reeled in a 96%. Yay!

Our condolences to the families and units of the following fallen warriors:

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
