2141 - Whew, just finished up a midterm. That's in, tomorrow I'll do the lab and discussion portion for the CMIT class, then the rest of the week goes to History, gardening, and work. Sorry, that's all there's time for right now. In another 3 weeks, the History class will be over and things will open up a bit for me. Ciao!

2243 - Pretty much caught up on the schoolwork for the moment. Tomorrow, weather pending, I'll be getting some leaf compost delivered and barrowed out to the gardens, about 3 yards worth. Weather? Yeah, it must be April 1 tomorrow, since the forecast has wintery mix in it from before dawn until about 9 AM. We'll see... Ciao!

2225 - A "day off" today. I got three yards of leaf compost and 16 bags of red-dyed cedar mulch delivered. All of the compost has been shoveled, barrowed, and raked, mostly into the garden beds, but some on the front lawns in key patches that need a bit more nutrition. I also weeded out the front beds, and cut in around the trees in preparation for the mulch, and gave the big crapemyrtle a deep, deep pruning. In front, the tulips are finally pushing up flowers, joining the daffodils and the hyacinth. I've also got the tiger lilies starting to push up in front, and the hastas in back.
It's possible that I over did it a bit today. But tomorrow I don't have the time to work in the yard, since I'll be doing work-work. That's not all day, but intermittent and I need to be online and keeping half an eye on email most of the time. So tomorrow is work and schoolwork. So it's time to unwind a bit, 'cause the alarm is set for 0630. Ciao!

1246 - Marcia tells me crepe myrtle. The National Arboretum tells me crapemyrtle. I'll go with the Arboretum (and correct my speling above), but now all I can see is the crap in crapemyrtle. Sigh.

2047 - Okay. After Friday's slog, I "took the day off" on Saturday, and merely did some work and some schoolwork. The work was ultimately successful, and the schoolwork got done. Both were much easier on the body than that yard stuff. In the evening, there was a company holiday party - we're either really late or really, really early - a good time was had by all.
The yard is done, for the time being. Today, after shopping I got back out there, and after washing my car, I finished weeding and preparing all the front beds for fresh mulch, then mulched it all: 16 bags plus one hold out from last year - and came out even. That's good, but I need to get a couple of spares on hand for touch ups after plantings later in the season. Finally, I edged and mowed, which should carry me for two or three weeks. Once my history class is done, it'll be time for veggies in the ground.
Our condolences to the families and units of these fallen warriors:

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
