1010 - Good morning. You know, this interesting article on the Israeli Lobby in America stayed off my radar somehow. My stance remains: We, as Americans, are responsible for our own protection, for our own borders. I am not responsible for, nor beholden to Israel. But at this time, and in this place, their enemy is our enemy, so our "partnership"[1] makes sense. In the longer term, certainly we should evaluate our national priorities and policies by our needs, not Isreal's.
On the lighter side of the ledger, has anyone not yet seen the Chris Bliss juggling video? That rocks! Now, it's time to get back to work.
[1] "Partnership", if you count paying the tab when Israel attacks the Islamics with whom the Israelis have been playing the game of mutual provocation, that peculiar brand of Middle Eastern brinksmanship that seems to always be going on over there.

0958 - Good morning. Yesterday was eaten by mutant wolverines. I was out the door at 0610, taking a back route to work because of a tipped-over 18 wheeler on the Outer Loop. I was meeting our phone system vendor for a fix. I was here in time, but there were problems, so we reverted and rescheduled for 1700 hours. Work kept me in grindstone mode all day, then we tried again, from 5 to 8 in the evening. No go. So there's another round of that coming, but TBA. And that long day was over.
There's also not much to report, as a result. I was listening to the radio, and heard them talking about how so many spicy foods seem to come from hot climates, without ever acknowledging the key background to that fact: In hot climates, food goes bad quickly, and that can be masked with spices. Duh! Many Mel Gibson jokes, like the next movie, "What Jews Want", and other humor funny but less savory. Back to work now. Ciao!

1637 - Good afternoon. Yay! Fourth time was the charm. Another late-ish evening ended up with a phone system that's back in the pink of health. I've got some documentation reading to do, to get to the point where I understand enough to get things fully reconfigured to current from the point of last backup, but we're close enough for government work now! Turned out the big problem was a borked replacement hard drive from the manufacturer.
So, a couple of long days ... I came home an hour and a half early today. Now I'll format a couple of David's old columns for Jerry, then do some Technical Review stuff for Bob. If there's energy or time, I'll find something else to amuse me. Ciao!

0842 - Good morning. One headline: "Mideast crisis delays Blair holiday" ... Another headline: "Bush gets a 'look-see' at the border before starting summer break". Yay, that's our guy there! All-time leader in the Presidential Vacation stakes! Anyway, glad it's Friday. Later...

1424 - Good afternoon. Hmmm. I'm motivationally challenged today. Other than doing some technical review work for Bob, I haven't done jack-all today. Breakfast, browsing, email, lunch ... yeah, but nothing of import. So, I'll waste no more of your time now. Check back later, I'll be back if I find something interesting or useful to report.

1638 - Good afternoon. Another quiet day... I guess that's what I must need. Some work on the Chaos Manor Reviews material for tomorrow, some shopping, watering in the front yard, a bit of email. That pretty much covers the day around here. Meantime our boys and girls are going through hell in Iraq and Afghanistan, make sure they have your concern and support, regardless of politics!

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
