0904 - Been busy. Working and reworking the last paper of this UMUC session. And regular work is pretty busy, too. Back later, time permitting. Ciao!

2126 - Huzzah! Back again, and with stellar news: I'm virtually done with school for the session. I've got one more final next Thursday, but the fourth paper and all the ancilliary documentation is now submitted. I actually had until Sunday night to get that stuff in, but I'm done, and unlikely to agonize over every last word one more time. So I submitted, and sent an email to the instructor that I was done, should she want to get a head start with my stuff. Five weeks until classes start for me next session. I still need to buy books for those two classes, though. What *am* I going to do for five weeks? Remodel stuff, I fear. Catch you later, ciao!

2147 - Whoops! Anyway, today starts the round of moving crap up and down the stairs, staging some furniture into the library, and so on. The goal? Marcia's sewing room and fabric room downstairs in the cave, errr, basement. And the guest room upstairs. That process involves refurbishing and reflooring both of the upstairs bedrooms that used to hold sewing and fabric, as well as fixing the shower plumbing in the guest bathroom. Before any of the remodeling can proceed, we've got to get everything moved downstairs. Quite a workout, actually. Broke at about 1700, cut my hair, then watched TV until we met Linda at Olive Garden for supper. Chicken Alfredo, yum. Catch you tomorrow. Ciao!

2119 - More remote work first thing this morning, what a way to start the day. I'd hit the snooze bar instead of getting up, so I started before coffee. That's risky behaviour, right there. But it all came out well. After the shoppping, it was time to get going on the fabric migration again. Today, about 80 trips up and down the two flights of stairs. No, I skipped the elliptical both weekend days. I figure I got a pretty good workout without the machine.

So, surging an additional 30K forces into Afghanistan was Obama's "toughest decision yet" (according to an LA Times headline), eh? Not as hard as it is for the troops tasked with going out on the line, bucko. And we're *still* deploying National Guard units? They're not "International" Guard units, folks. Sigh. What's most frustrating to me is that we're not going to do what needs to get done to decapitate Al Qaeda, because we've got a sensitivity to collateral damage that our opponents take advantage of at every turn. Sigh. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
