Good evening. Safe in Maryland, in the house with lots to do in order to prepare for the truck bringing all our goods here on Wednesday. Lots to tell, but no time right now. I'll write up more of a post, and put it in place tomorrow morning. All is well, relatively speaking. Now, four hundred thousand emails need sorting... I perhaps exaggerate a little bit. TTFN!

Good morning. This is another placeholder post. By the time I read 456 non-spam emails, did enough cleaning to prepare for what's necessary (our new bed, showers last night and this morning, etc.) and whatnot, I was plain out of steam. We slept (if you can call it that) on the air mattress last night.
Today's plan starts with a client meeting with my new employer, while Marcia stays here and holds the fort down against possible deliveries, and or heads down to do paperwork at City Hall for services and dog license. Then I'll come home, take over on the waiting part, and continue the cleaning process while Marcia goes in to her office for a while.
Local loop cutover for the DSL service is on the eighth, then it might be a while after that until connectivity is up for me. Now to get this posted and get going. See you later.

By late yesterday afternoon, we had no more dialtone at all in the house. There's always such finger-pointing in the services handoff between ILEC and CLEC. Sheesh. Now we've got two lines of tone and everything's headed in the right direction.
Ah, good afternoon. Let's see, what's the latest news? Our moving van arrived here with all our goods at about 0930. I unloaded about the first third of the stuff on my own, then a whole passle of people from Marcia's office here in Maryland turned up and lightened my load considerably. Not to mention helping me move the 7 pieces of furniture that I would have real difficulty with, on my own. So everything's in the house, mostly in the right rooms. Whew. One more hairy job to go...
I've got to drive back to Nebraska, pick up the Blazer, and drive it here. We looked into getting it hauled, or me flying out there, but the added expense of the rental car as a one way instead of dropping it off here in Maryland adds several hundred dollars to the cost of things. So as little as I'm looking forward to it, I've got four more driving days to go.
Now to check my email, then do a little route planning. See y'all later, either from the road, or more likely when I return. Ciao!

Good afternoon. You can see the shortform version of my last three days just above. The shorter version is that I got back from my Nebraska run last night. Three days. Not bad, but ready to not ride in any cars for a few ... years. Today I'm assembling furniture. It'll take another four or five days before the DSL line is fully provisioned. That's all the news for now, I'll take time for a complete post later. Ciao!

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
