Good morning. Today's a big day - we sign the papers that let us live in a house that we will own 5% of. We'll pay (and deduct) a bunch of interest over the coming years. And when it's all said and done, we'll own that chunk of ground in fee simple. Yowza. The funny thing is, I've been far more worked up over events of considerably lesser import. But I slept well last night, and I'm not noticably anxious this morning. Mind you, I'm not complaining. Anyway...
We're reviewing the house one last time before signing all the papers, late this morning, so I guess I'd best be getting myself ready. Have a great day, I'll be back with pictures sometime later.

The New House... Settlement went fine - we're poor again, but that's okay. Now I have to get to work to pay for all this fun. See ya!

Good morning... We worked all day, then we worked on the house all evening. So what did I restlessly dream about all night? Fighting a computer virus/worm attack in a department at a company, in whack-a-mole fashion. An exhausting dream, I tell you... We pulled the strip of sports-oriented wallpaper off the wall in the room which is going to be Marcia's Sewing Room, and I deep cleaned 2.5 of the carpets in rooms upstairs. We'll be back over there tonight, priming and shampooing some more. But now I need to get to work. Have a great day!

Ditto.
Okay, I can do better than that. I worked at work (as did Marcia), we worked on the new house, prepping, painting and cleaning carpets. What else is there? Not too much. I've done all the upstairs carpets. I'll go back tonight and do more, then relax for a couple of days with my folks back in town. Then Sunday we'll rent a small truck and I'll move batches of boxes over. Time flies when you fling the clock at the wall. See ya around...

Good morning. Whew, finally a weekend. Almost everything's packed, nearly everything's ready at the new house. So we can relax a bit this weekend and enjoy peace and quiet for a bit before the move, a week from today. My folks are back in town, so we'll go see the new place this morning, then head over towards Annapolis to see what we can see... pictures tomorrow.
Yesterday, I spent much of my afternoon fighting with a recalcitrent Cyrus IMAP installation. It couldn't read it's own DB files. I took all the right actions, three times in a row, as far as I can tell. Nothing worked. I called Greg in to help, and he ran the recovery commands on the original data set, just like I did - it worked for him, lucky guy! Or probably it's just that he's smarter than I am. Anyway, the result was as desired - the server's back up.
Have a lovely day, the weather's gorgeous here, I hope it's nice where you are. Take it easy...

Good afternoon. Did you change your clocks? Remember the rule: Spring forward, Fall down.... er, something like that. Yesterday we toured the new house, and then went up to Annapolis for lunch and a bit of tourist-y stuff. State house was cool, the US Government was there for 7 months in 1783 into 1784. It was there where George Washington resigned his commission as commander in chief of the Continental Army on December 23, in time to get home for Christmas. Fun stuff, no pictures though - I was too lazy.
Today, I've many chores to do. We've already got my folks to their plane and done the grocery shopping. Marcia's packing in the kitchen, and I'm going to wrap up some items out in the yard, then do some work up here in our offices. I'd best be about it. Take care...

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
