1858 - Okay. I'm here. I've just been wicked busy with work, and fretting about stuff that doesn't work right, while planning for new stuff that hopefully will work right, and trying to get some ducks lined up and nailed down before the next UMUC class starts on the upcoming Sunday. Oh, yeah, Sunday. Marcia's natal celebration day, the day after the Saint Valentine's Massacre. Her UMUC class (Psych 100) starts the same Sunday. And I've got to get going on cabinets for her sewing and fabric rooms ... the beat goes on. Wish me luck...

2142 - The four day weekend is started. So I just pushed out a firewall update at work, after supper, after getting Jerry's column formatted and online. That was after I finished sanding and putting the first coat of polyurethane on the new footstool, which followed the upholstering of the lid for the footstool. And that was all after getting home from work. Sounds relaxing, doesn't it? Now I've got to apply the Apple updates. Ciao!

1623 - It's done. The new ottoman is finished. It's actual home is underneath the window in my office, but because of the strong backlight there, pictures were less than stellar. So instead, down in the library, with flash to illuminate.
The main carcass is from the pine out of Jolene's store. The bottom is 3/16" lua ply. The top is a piece of 3/4" Plywood, with 1" of foam glued on, then batting, then the covering fabric. The fabric is bookish, which is much to my taste. A bit of dark brown fabric neatens up the underside of the lid, which is hinged and has a chain to keep it from flipping all the way back. I could not find 1/2" non-skid feet, so I used 3/4" for the time being. Someday I'll find the right feet, and swap those out. The non-skid is important, since Lucy is going to be jumping on and off of it.
Tonight Marcia's going out with Mary and Linda Rose, I think I'll pass. I'm a bit of a hermit, I suppose. It's not the worst thing in the world to be, but there you go. In other news, Wells Fargo has yet to get an appraiser out here. That's the big pole holding up the refi tent right now. We were given to understand that would happen within 30 days of starting the process, so there's a week yet to go there. Once the appraisal's in, we can determine if the original loan terms are going to hold. Then we can make the final go-no go decision. It's not nearly as nerve-wracking as getting the first loans, even though that happened during the go-go years, rather than in today's strained economic environment.
Heh. This was "ready" an hour gone, but I was reminded (by the voices) that I needed to roast coffee today, as we'd run through the last this morning. So I hared off to get that done before returning here. I've another quarter pound yet to roast, and a beefy red sauce yet to compile this evening, so I'll leave you for now. Ciao!

1602 - Yesterday, after finishing the ottoman, I cleaned up the woodshop, got everything put away, and roasted coffee down there. This morning, I captured the proper use of the ottoman: At left you can see Lucy perched, and watching Lucy-TV. But the ottoman is also large enough for her to lie down on and sleep. The other two Lucy-TV perches are hardly big enough to sit on. So really, the ottoman is for Lucy.
Today, I made a little something for Marcia. Among the things that quilters accumulate are assorted templates, angle cutting forms, multiple cutting mats, and whatnot. Marcia had a small purchased stand for such things, able to hold perhaps 10 items. She had it overloaded by a factor of three. So I made her a new upright stand for those items that'll hold 42, and some round holes in the middle for pens, pencils, etc. You can find that pictured at right. She claims to like it. It's sort of a Valentine's/birthday present for her. Homemade is good at the best of times, and certainly prudent while we're in the midst of a refi.
Tonight, we'll watch Hellboy, and eat pizza. Yummy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARCIA!!! We just got back from a lovely birthday dinner at McCormick and Schmick's in Annapolis. The dinner itself was courtesy of some gift cards from Pat and Nathan for my birthday last year. Yay, Pat and Nathan!!! We finally got around to using them. Good call! Now, after Ledo Pizza for lunch, and yummy seafood and seafood and dessert for supper ... I'm very full. Sleepy now, but...
12 more lives fed to the wars. We should not let "the economy" push away our recognition of the sacrifices that our young men and women are making for us in lands far away. What are you doing for these folks, Obama? Plenty, I hope! Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.
