2228 - And so summer begins. No precipitation today (yay), and temps in the high 80's. Days getting shorter, starting with today. There was still a bit of light in the western sky at 2143 when I was outside with Molly. That won't last long. But the garden is just getting rolling. We had fresh zucchini tonight, along with other leftovers. Yum.
I might have tried to find something useful to say tonight, but I've been updating systems remotely since before 2100, and it just gets more exciting as the week goes on. I did run across Tim's post on O'Reilly Radar about Health Data Rights, thanks to Twitter. Worth reading, worth signing on. Time to unwind, now.

2058 - This week's coffee is Colombian Patron (I'm roasting another half pound tonight) from The Coffee Project, courtesy of a birthday gift from my sister, back in April. The coffee's have been pretty good, though their selection doesn't come close to the range of beans offered by Sweet Maria's, where I normally shop for beans. Speaking of which, they're speaking highly of the Yemeni beans they have in stock right now, I think I'll pick up a couple of pounds (okay, 1# of the Yemen Mokha Harasi and 2# of the Yemen Mokha Ismaili). And I know that Marcia wants me to stock some Brazilian coffee, too. So I'll add a couple of pounds of Brazil Cachoeira Yellow Canario Bourbon. I wrapped up the order with two pounds of Costa Rica "Cafe Sin Limites". Nice. Now, I want to get a bit of school work done, along with more system updates tonight. Ciao!

2025 - Business models to avoid: Baby Rentals. Most jurisdictions frown on the concept. If you have to ask why ... don't. It's a Twitter thing. Of course, if you're a Governor, then you might want to avoid Argentina. And if you're a Governor's aide, avoid references to the Appalachian Trail: they will bite you in the ass down the road.
I've slogged through the week's assignments for one of my courses already tonight. I'm going to make a game effort to get through about half of the second class's worth of weekly work before I sleep. The only saving grace, with more heat and less rain, is that my mowing schedule is slowing down dramatically.
@wilw is talking about drinking coffee and listening to the B-52's. One thing I cannot do anymore is drink coffee past the early afternoon. I'm down to one early cup a day. A cup after dinner will keep me up almost all night. An afternoon cup will just destroy my ability to get to sleep for a couple of hours, and make the rest ... well, unrestful. Bummer, but our yummy coffee lasts longer that way. But I can (and will) listen to the B-52's. It's good music. Now, onto Perl! Ciao!

2013 - Gaaaahhhh! Sorry about that, I've been busy. Homework, house work, yard work, work work. The fun never ends. I'm staying caught up in classes, during the growing season. That prospect had me worried, truth be told. As it is, I'm doing okay. There's projects standing still, but none of them are critical path. Today, we shopped, I washed both vehicles, mowed the back yard, weeded out a couple of the vegetable beds, cleaned the commodes in the house (no, there aren't any outside), and roasted two batches of coffee. Now, here I am. It's time to unwind a bit, but first ...
Seven more lives given in service, including one local to us. Seargant Rivas was from Germantown, just up the road from where I used to work in Gaithersburg. They do us all honor in serving our country, all of the members of our armed forces deserve our respect and pride in their service. Our condolences to the families of the fallen, and to their unit mates.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
