2218 - Happy Birthday, Marcia! She's still 27, I'll have you take note... We had a nice, slightly lazy day. She took a vacation day, and I had the day as a holiday. Scones for breakfast, then I surprised her with her birthday present - a quilting-related, signed and numbered lithograph. Puttered through the day, both of us working at assorted things (she: quilting, me: taxes, and the other Monday chores). Her birthday supper was at East Moon Asian Bistro. They cover the Thai to Japanese to Chinese spectrum quite nicely. We started with Satay Chicken, then Marcia had Orange Chicken and I had Pad Thai noodles with beef. Yum. Now, back to work tomorrow, I need to sleep. Ciao!

2157 - Well, it's not delivery, but it's not that brand of pizza, either. It's the Uno brand, and the self-rising meat pizza is pretty darn good. Good on them for having stock when the store was out of the bigger-name brand. Tonight's schoolwork was devoted to the writing class. More of the same tomorrow, to finish up the writing project that's occupied the last week and a half. Listening now to Radio Paradise, and unwinding from the day. Ciao!

2243 - A productive day at work, and with my schoolwork this evening. Tonight I rewrote and completed an 8 page set of instructions for writing HTML code with a text editor, for my Technical Writing course. That leaves the next three days for the CMIS coursework for the week. Still dancing... Ciao!

Car washing day! |
1608 - I suppose it's good to be over-committed, rather than the alternative. But I feel a little bad that I don't get to even pop in here to say hello, much less two days in a row. Thursday was work and schoolwork, until I dropped. Friday, more of the same, and later in the evening, I slogged away at trying to connect Linux to $FIREWALL_DU_JURE with a VPN of some kind, any kind. No joy there, and all of a sudden it was well past bedtime.
This morning, up at the crack of 7 AM, we got the dog rolling, and got Marcia rolling. She had an all-day seminar, and the mutt had an appointment for some quarterly bloodwork and a nail clipping. Both went well - we'll get results back on Molly's enzyme counts on Monday. Back home, since it was a balmy 42 °F out, I washed the road salt off the Prius. Yeah, as you can see, there's still plenty of snow that's melting, so there's plenty of road spray. But for the moment, the car is pretty again. Following that, I've been working on trim and flooring prep work in remodel room 1. I was vacuuming, setting a few screws through the sub-floor in high-traffic areas to help prevent future squeekage, and some sanding and filling. Now I'm going to check in with school again, and see if there's more to comment on. Usually there is, come weekend. Ciao!

2050 - Today: shopping, remodeling, school reading, baking bread, stir fry for supper. I hope that's enough. Oh, yeah. The bread was yummy - used this recipe: Amish White Bread, only I used 50% whole wheat flour. More substantial, super-yummy.
In weeks with low casualty numbers, like the two last week, I find myself hoping that I have nothing to say here in the following week but hurrah! Sadly, each time I have been wrong. This week, fourteen more lives have been spent in our effort to bring ... something to Afghanistan. Helmand province is a dangerous place to be, though I note that it's dangerous for the Taliban, too. Our condolences to the families and units of the fallen.

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
