1927 - But I'm getting caught up, really I am. Marcia managed a nearly full work day today. Last night I hauled down enough of the contents of her work desk, and we got everything setup and working on the kitchen table, which makes managing her day working on just one floor of the house a lot easier, methinks. And everyone got a nearly full night of sleep last night, which was a great help. Would have been better if the firewall update I was planning to push last night wasn't delayed due to exhaustion, but there you go, no harm done. I'll be doing that tonight, instead. Now, I've finished roasting coffee, and I'm going to try to have supper before 8, instead of after 10, for the first time in several days. Ciao!

2118 - I took the morning off to shuttle Marcia to a couple of appointments. All went well, and she is walking solo just fine, and should be driving herself to physical therapy when it's time for that. Yay! In other news, I've gotten this system updated to the latest {K}Ubuntu release, 10.04 Lucid Lynx. I started it last night, and finished clicking on all the little [OKAY] prompts this evening. Seems fine, so far. I'll explore a few corners and report what I find, as I find it. Now, time to order some more coffee before I run out of green beans. There's something else I need, too, but (a) I forget what, and (b) it's not as important as coffee. Ciao!

2125 - Okay, the coffee was finally ordered, today:
They all look yummy, don't they? However, I may not get to enjoy all that coffee. I'm concerned that the End Days are upon us: RBT is now on Facebook.
Random thoughts from a beltway commmute...
Put down the phone and color between the lines! (Stay in your lane)
Did you pay someone to do that to your hair? SRSLY?
The overhead signs that warn of ice and accidents infrequently are now being used to display trip-times to major interchanges. The 12 mile stint between the I-95 split and the I-270 split is 12-16 minutes at the best of times, but can be an hour and up at the worst. However, just like temperatures are currently being reported not as temps, but as "what it feels like", the road signs ought to say (depending on time, weather, circumstances, whatever), "Stretch of road will take 37 to 46 minutes. Will feel like 3.5 hours."
Why isn't a 1000 point dump, and a one-day 400 point DOW drop the top news story on CNN. Instead, there's Faith Hill and Tim McGraw on rebuilding a flooded Nashville, and LT in a rape bind. Are we supposed to not notice? Morons. Sigh. Ciao!

2146 - I woke up when Lexi decided it was time to rise for the day, at 0645. So the dogs got an early breakfast and we let Marcia sleep in a bit. By 0800 or shortly thereafter, I was starting on the painting. And that big rock in the pile is done with - both rooms cut in and painted. The second (green) room requires a bit of touch-up, but not much. So tomorrow after shopping, I'll do that, and stage the flooring for installation on Monday. Then there's quarter round to paint and install, and the furniture can come upstairs out of the Library. Progress is. Tired, though. Ciao!

2052 - Finished with the painting, most of the clean-up pre-flooring is done, and much pasta with red sauce and italian sweet sausage consumed. And an ice cream bar. Yum.
Our condolences to the families and units of the following fallen warriors:

Visit the rest of the DAYNOTES GANG, a collection of bright minds and sharp wits. Really, I don't know why they tolerate me <grin>. My personal inspiration for these pages is Dr. Jerry Pournelle. I am also indebted to Bob Thompson and Tom Syroid for their patience, guidance and feedback. Of course, I am sustained by and beholden to my lovely wife, Marcia. You can find her online too, at http://www.dutchgirl.net/. Thanks for dropping by.
